How you doin’

It’s been around a while but one Newspaper Magazines I read when I arrived in Canberra had an article called ‘The Rise and Rise of the Infographic” (The Weekend Australian Magazine April 9-10 2011). I chose to see it as a good sign of my decision to move. In the article – which was a filler story to be fair – they mentioned this site.

We Feel Fine is an exploration of human feelings on a global scale. It’s also a delicious piece of interactive information design!

In it’s own words the site “has been harvesting human feelings from a large number of weblogs. Every few minutes, the system searches the world’s newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases “I feel” and “I am feeling”. When it finds such a phrase, it records the full sentence, up to the period, and identifies the “feeling” expressed in that sentence (e.g. sad, happy, depressed, etc.)” The makers call it “an artwork authored by everyone”

Click on the different displays and delight at the representations.

You can see the random feelings captured. Or you can focus on one and drill into it.

Then, as with any good piece of information design – reflect on the content from your own context. And feel….
